This is a portrait of a dear friend of mine and fellow artist who brought me out of a hard time, who brought me light. The electromagnetic spectrum dances throughout the painting and culminates into a rainbow at the crest of her head. She is the light personified and reveals the connection between the cone shaped cells in our eyes and the pigments we need to recreate reality.

Inspired by Rosetti's Beata Beatrix, her hair burns with red and golden fire. She is lit by red, green, and blue lights with a pallette of cyan, yellow, and magenta. "As above, so below."
In a postmodern world, how do we live with symbols and idols that have lost their meaning? This is La Croix Mystique, the one who unlocks it all. Painted under red and green LEDs, she is bathed in a soft golden light and her head hangs in the cross of the window. She inspired me to unlock the mysteries of the cosmos. |
